UNIT 8 Septic System Management and Community-Volunteer Management

This unit discusses septic systems, their maintenance, and well sites. Also covered in this unit are ways to improve participation and support for your programs through community-volunteer management: recruiting community volunteers, making their jobs fulfilling, and keeping their work focused on the goals of your program.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Be familiar with the different types of septic systems, their maintenance, and implications for water quality

  2. Understand well site basics

  3. Become familiar with organization, leadership, and legal issues related to managing a group of community-volunteers

  4. Learn methods for recruiting community-volunteers into VCE MGWS programs

  5. Each workgroup is to complete Community-Volunteer Job Description and a Community-Volunteer Recruitment Plan for their program proposal
