  Advanced Master Gardeners: Water

new-icon[1]We have heard that many Master Gardeners had planned to take the Advanced Master Gardener: Water training at Master Gardener College this past June.  The schedule of College did not permit us to offer the training there.  However, training will be held in Leesburg, VA this September, sponsored by the Loudoun County Master Gardeners, but open to Master Gardeners from throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.  To learn more about the Advanced Master Gardener Program click here.  To learn more about this training in Leesburg click here.

Master Gardeners wishing to become Advanced Master Gardener: Water Stewards will need to purchase a copy of the Handbook and complete programmatic training. This Handbook is available from the Office of Consumer Horticulture at Virginia Tech. Click here to find out how to obtain copies of both required texts.

The Advanced Master Gardener: Water Handbook is divided into 10 Units of study. Use the links below to access the Units and their contents. The goals for each unit are given on the page devoted to each unit of study as is a suggested reading list, and a number of learning resources including PowerPoint presentations, links to on-line publications, and other sources for useful material.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a Master Gardener. This training is not open to Master Gardener Trainees nor interns. All participants must have completed all of the requirements to become a Master Gardener prior to commencing this Advanced Master Gardener Training.
  • Must have the express permission of their local Agent and/or Unit Coordinator.
  • Must pay an additional fee for the additional instruction, and the Handbook

Course of Study:

Candidates will take a prescribed course of study.  All participants will take all of the following courses.
